The problem our team aims to solve is food waste. Every day, lots of edible food is thrown out by restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores simply because it doesn’t look a certain way, even though it is perfectly fine to consume. To address this issue, we created Round2, an app that partners with the businesses mentioned above and collects surplus food at the end of the day that would otherwise be thrown away. If the food is edible and untouched, we sell it through our app, taking a small profit while giving the rest to the business. If the food has gone bad, we offer another section on our app that allows farmers and agricultural workers to bid on compost for soil use. We also provide delivery services, pickup sites, and a website for easier access. What differentiates us from competitors such as Talabat and Careem, which also sell food, is that we cater to a specific audience looking for good-quality food at affordable prices, as well as people who care about reducing food waste. In addition, we offer a compost bidding feature that no other business in Jordan currently provides. We also tailor our services specifically to Jordanian society by offering features such as Ramadan packages, making our platform more locally relevant. In the future, we plan to expand our business across the Middle East region and hopefully encourage more people to stop wasting food.
