The idea for PackPal was developed in response to a real and common problem faced by many people in Jordan, where international shipping is expensive, slow, and unreliable. For example, traditional courier services can cost over $30 per kilogram and take up to 10–20 days, while many people resort to using social media platforms like Instagram to find travelers to carry packages, which lacks safety, tracking, and trust . To solve this issue, PackPal is a mobile application that connects senders with travelers who already have unused luggage space in which 17,700 daily Jordanian travelers have this , allowing packages to be delivered faster and at a significantly lower cost. Through the app, users can post delivery requests, match with verified travelers, and complete secure transactions using an escrow payment system that ensures payment is only released after successful delivery. The project offers several key services, including traveler matching, ID and passport verification, real-time tracking through optional AirTag devices, in-app communication, and a rating system to build trust between users . What makes PackPal unique compared to existing solutions is that it combines affordability, speed, and safety into one platform, unlike traditional couriers which are expensive, or social media methods which are unsafe and unregulated. Additionally, PackPal is specifically designed for the Jordanian market, addressing a clear gap where no dedicated platform currently exists. Looking ahead, the team aims to expand the platform beyond Jordan into the wider MENA region and eventually globally, while enhancing features such as multilingual support, improved tracking systems, and potential partnerships with services like Uber for logistics support . Overall, PackPal is an innovative and scalable solution that transforms unused travel capacity into an efficient delivery system, creating value for both senders and travelers
